As I shared with you last week, over a month ago, I took the first steps to changing the way I eat and feel in a big way with Isagenix.
I have lost over 7 pounds and 4 inches— which means my pants fit again- yeah!
More importantly, what has changed is how I truly feel on a daily basis. My overall mood has improved, I’m not nearly as tired and cranky as I was and for a lack of better words, I just feel GOOD.
I hesitated to start Isagenix because of a lot of unknowns…part of it was what would my daily eating schedule look like, how easy would it be to incorporate into my already packed day and would I be starving???
I am by no means an Isagenix expert- I am still learning every day. However, here is what is working for me right now…

A typical day for me:
Drink Ionix (see below) and a full glass of water, coffee
Isalean shake (note- I do not eat a morning snack because my lunch is at 11:15 #teacherlife- so I just have 2 snacks spread out in the afternoon. If you eat lunch later, then have a morning snack)
2 afternoon snacks (see list below for some suggestions)
Healthy meal with my family
Cleanse drink and Isaflush tablet (this helps with digestion)
A Few Thoughts
I blend all of my shakes in a blender with 4-5 ice cubes. I like the consistency of the shake much more like this, rather than just shaking it by hand with water. I sometimes add 1/2 of a banana to my shake in the morning as well.
So far I’ve tried the mint chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and pumpkin spice shakes- mint chocolate is my favorite!!!
I take a small container of the shake mix, 2 snacks and my water bottle to school. That is it- very easy and simple to manage.
The Ionix drink is amazing. When I first tasted it, I thought it was absolutely awful. I have learned that I prefer the powder sticks instead of the liquid and I mix it with 4-5 oz of water. Ionix contains “adaptogens, antioxidants and nutrients that reduce the effects of stress and fatigue, increase energy and balance your body’s systems”. My husband even drinks this now in the morning and notices a huge difference in his energy throughout the day.
I eat dinner with my family and I typically eat whatever I cook for them. That includes chicken, turkey, pasta, rice, vegetables, etc.
The first few days I hated everyone in sight and I was convinced that this system was just about starving yourself. But, as many other had shared with me, the first few days are the hardest because your body is going through detox! Also you are re-training your taste buds. After about day 4 or 5, I was starting to notice a difference in how I felt and I was convinced to keep going.
One part of the Isagenix system is cleansing. The purpose of the cleanse is to detox your body and wake up all the stubborn fat cells. On those days, you are drinking the Cleanse for Life 4 times and then having small cleanse day snacks throughout the day.
There are 3 ways to cleanse:
- 2 consecutive days in a week
- 1 day a week
- Daily on an empty stomach
The first week, I decided to go all in and do the 2 day cleanse. It wasn’t too bad to be honest and by the second day, I felt really good.
Going forward, I decided to do the daily cleanse instead. Not for any one reason, but just because this is how it is working for me right now. Every night before bed, I mix the cleanse for life with about 4oz of water and drink with my Isa Flush.
Some people love and swear by the cleanse. I think you definitely need to try it and see for yourself before you make a decision on how you are going to make it fit into your lifestyle and goals.
I eat 2- 200 calorie snacks per day. As mentioned above, during the week, I spread both snacks across the longggg afternoon. Here are some of my favorites:
Cheesestick (I buy the huge bag from Costco)
Rice Roller (from Costco)
Carrots or cucumbers and hummus
I have always been a huge water drinker, so making sure I am drinking enough water is not a problem. I also drink unsweetened sparkling waters, unsweetened ice tea (another big change for me- the unsweetened part) and coffee in the morning.
As I mentioned in my last post, something that is huge about all of this is that I am not craving sweets or carbs. I was always a huge sweet eater, including candy, cookies, ice cream, chocolate, etc etc etc. I am not kidding you when I say that I have no desire to eat a box of swedish fish or a bag of peanut m&m’s- which I easily would normally do. Can they fit into my life at certain points? Yes, but it is all about balance!
I want everyone to experience what I have experienced- I feel a huge sense of relief because I am following a program that is actually working in so many ways. And it is so easy to fit into your life. I have my own Isagenix website now with tons of information! You can find more specific nutritional information about the products I mentioned above. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions- even if you are on the fence.
Lest you think I’ve forgotten my DIY days, have no fear…I have a post on faux shiplap peel and stick wallpaper in the works and I’m dying to show you how I used paint to completely transform a little nook in our very dark kitchen.
