At school, we always talk about educating the “whole child”. So, not just the academic part, but the social and emotional part as well. DIY and home decor are a part of my life and bring me much happiness and fulfillment, but that is only a small part of who I am. In that spirit, I’m being brave and sharing something not home decor related, but something that has impacted me in the last few months. The part that I’m sharing is in regards to my health.
This post does not have any pretty before and after photos. No DIY tips…just me talking…
This is MY journey- your journey may be different. One of you may relate to one small part and that is why I decided to write this.
I’ll be turning 40 in a few weeks and with that change, I have recently noticed changes in how I feel and how I look. I was slowly gaining weight that I couldn’t seem to lose. My clothes were starting to get tighter and I was very uncomfortable. More importantly, I really just overall did not feel great. I was very tired, irritable, frustrated and not super happy. That is a hard thing to admit and to write.
I had been talking to my friend, Jackie, about a nutritional system, Isagenix, for about 5 months. 5 months about me asking her questions, almost signing on, then changing my mind, then back on board, then off again.
I thought I could make small changes and be able to lose the weight and feel good by myself. I stopped drinking soda (this is HUGE- I was a huge Coke fan). Our family eats relatively healthy, so I didn’t have to cut out much from what we were eating. Then there is the wine- I enjoy a glass of red wine. But, that was turning into 2 healthy glasses every night.
With all that said, after a few months, I had not lost any weight and I still was not feeling great.
So, one night, Jackie messaged me about reconsidering joining her and I finally said yes.
I was finally ready.
That was the beginning of September and I’ve successfully completed my first month of Isagenix.
With those changes, I am down to my goal weight already and most importantly, I feel like a new person. Do I still scream at my kids- yes. Sorry, I’m a screamer. But, I am not nearly as tired as I always was and I am overall in a better mood. I’m not sure how I can accurately describe or put into words how I feel, but I will tell you that with all the stress that I have at my job and the daily stress as a mother, I feel better equipped emotionally and mentally to deal with it all.
All these changes happened by following the recommended eating schedule- 2 protein shakes, healthy snacks and a healthy meal. I am not a fitness person. I do not work out. I walk at recess and I walk the dogs- that is it. Many people I know who use Isagenix do work out, but I am proof that it is not necessary unless that is a part of your life and you chose to do so.
I still had an occasional glass of wine and I still went out to dinner with my husband- a couple fancy dinners and even a family trip to Fuddruckers!
I’m not craving the sugary snacks. At all.
I told myself I would give it a month and see how I liked it.
I love it. Honest.
I plan on sharing how I have made this system work for me in the next post and some tips that I have learned in this short month.
This has changed my life for the better so much that I have decided to become an Isagenix associate. This is something I NEVER would have thought that I would ever do- seriously. That is how passionate I feel about this.
If you aren’t feeling like your best self, I encourage you to find something that leads you on a path to get there! There are so many options out there, so find the one that fits best for you and your lifestyle. For me, starting this program has been the start of me on a path to better my health- physically, mentally and emotionally. I still have work to do and I am not perfect, but this is so important to me and it is worth the effort.
One more note- during this past month, I also read this book. I highly recommend it. I have also watched this video multiple times. Have a bad day? Feel like giving in or up? Watch this or read a chapter and you will be ready to pick yourself up. She is so motivating and inspiring. And how appropriate is this quote?
“If you aren’t taking care of your physical body,
there is a 0% chance that you are going to become
the version of yourself that you want to be.”
